چکیده

Vasodilator therapy has been shown to improve ventricular function in patients with left ventricular failure complicating acute myocardial infarction. Sublingual nitroglycerin also improves ventricular function in these patients but its effects are transient and variable. Infusion of intravenous nitroglycerin in 12 patients with acute infarction resulted in a decrease in left ventricular filling pressure from a mean of 22 2

Intravenous nitroglycerin in acute myocardial infarction.

Until recently, the use of nitroglycerin in patients with acute myocardial infarction has been contraindicated primarily because of possible hypotension or tachycardia which, with sublingual or oral preparations, would be difficult to control. The introduction of intravenous nitroglycerin and its use during experimentally induced infarction paved the way for its use in patients with acute myoca...

Effects of intravenous nitroglycerin on left ventricular function and ST segment changes in acute myocardial infarction.

It has been shown previously that 30-minute infusions of intravenous nitroglycerin in patients with acute myocardial infarction are able to lower left ventricular filling pressure and improve left ventricular function while lowering mean arterial pressure by only 7 mmHg (0.9 kPa). A decrease in sigmaST in praecordial ST segment mapping studies during nitroglycerin infusion in patients with ante...

Nitroglycerin-induced severe hypotension and bradycardia in patients with acute myocardial infarction.

Seven episodes of simultaneous severe systemic arterial hypotension and absolute or relative bradycardia were observed in five patients receiving either sublingual nitroglycerin (two patients) or intravenous nitroglycerin (three patients) within the first 24 hours of onset of symptoms of acute myocardial infarction. Left ventricular filling pressure, measured as pulmonary artery diastolic press...

Severity of Contraction Abnormalities

In order to determine the severity of contraction abnormalities in acute myocardial infarction and their response to sublingual nitroglycerin, 23 patients were studied by radionuclide angiography within 6-24 hours after the onset of chest pain. Radionuclide angiograms were obtained in the right anterior oblique projection before and after nitroglycerin and segmental shortening was determined us...

Prediction of long-term cardiac events by 123I-MIBG imaging after acute myocardial infarction and reperfusion therapy

Objective(s): In heart failure, the heart-to-mediastinum (H/M) ratio of the delayed image and washout rate (WR) are well-known as a powerful cardiac event predictors. H/M ratio quantifies the accumulation rate of MIBG in the myocardium and WR quantifies reduction of meta-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) accumulation in the heart from the early planar image to the delayed pla...
